I haven't posted in days and days and days precisely because I have a million things to say and I can say none of them coherently right now. I wish I had the energy to follow your Bloom links -- I hate him, too. But I'm just *so tired*.
I wave weakly from the divan towards the tea and lemon biscuits instead.
Lemon biscuits? Whee! *joins you on the settee opposite with a cup of tea (splash of milk, two sugars).
But did you *enjoy* dS? I was happily surprised to find that Vecchio grew on me -- so much so that overall I prefer him to the second Ray.
Harold Bloom's a douche, but I *heart* Wylie's work. Confusing!
Yes, I'm enjoying dS. I *like* Vecchio, I'm just not feeling slashy about him (but I'm only two episodes in). The only shippy feeling that I've had so far has been between Fraser and the assistant at the consulate. Was she only in the pilot?
Harold Bloom just *bothers* me.
but I *heart* Wylie's work.
Really? And here I thought I was the only one. But then again, I think Teasdale shouldn't be thrown on the rubbish heap of obscurity either so what do I know? *g*
I should save my rant about the male bias disguised as 'objective' aesthetic in academia for another day.
Vecchio and Fraser's relationship deepens over s1; even if you end up not shipping them, the last few episodes of the season will help you see what others ship (if that makes any sense...?).
Hey, I'm a massive HD and Katharine Anne Porter fan, too; I've a soft spot for lady modernists. ♥
Oh that makes perfect sense. I always feel like there's something wrong with me if I don't see a popular ship in the source material. Plus I know there's something wrong with me when I don't buddy ship as much as I should (I tend towards strife in my slash, femslash and het although that's not an absolute). *is weird*
Yay for lady modernists!
